Hello! Today is Wednesday, and you guys know what that means (or I hope so, anyway. Lol): This week's Words to Live By are here! I wanted to browse the Internet to decide on a quote but things worked out in a different way. Today, I started reading Bad Feminist: Essays by Roxane Gay and I found myself highlighting quite a few sentences, but there is one I particularly want to share with you in this feature:
I read this part and loved it so much. Sometimes I tend to get annoyed when a woman says she isn't a feminist, I just think 'WHYYY?', so I am taking this as a reminder, because she has a right to be whatever she wants to be. And that doesn't mean that she isn't a part of a bigger group. And the second sentence of this paragraph is just beautiful. I have seen some women who label themselves as feminists, shame other women because of the way they dress or because of some actions they take part of. Talk about contradictions, dude.
What are your thoughts on this quote? Agree? Disagree? Have you read Bad Feminist: Essays, by Roxane Gay?
I haven't read Bad Feminist: Essays, but I do really like this quote.

Another awesome quote, Alejandra!
ResponderEliminarI also really do not understand why some women aren't feminists, but that doesn't mean that we aren't fighting for her (and others like her) when we call for equality.
Also: judgemental feminists are doing no one any good. Feminism isn't about what you wear, or anything superficial like that, and to infer that it is is really quite ridiculous and embarrassing. Feminism is so much bigger, and so much more important than that.
I haven't read that book, but it sounds like something I might like to read one day!
