One of the hardest books I've read

Title: It Ends With Us
Author: Colleen Hoover
Published: August 2nd 2016 by Atria Books
Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.
Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.
As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

My Musings

I didn't really want to write a review on this book because I don't think I could do it justice. I mean I haven't rated it on Goodreads yet. But I finished it two hours ago and I just can't stop texting my friend Floozy about it. There are too many thoughts and feelings on this story.

How dare you?!

Title: A Gathering of Shadows
Author: V.E. Schwab
Published: February 23rd, 2016 by Tor Books.

It has been four months since a mysterious obsidian stone fell into Kell's possession. Four months since his path crossed with Delilah Bard. Four months since Prince Rhy was wounded, and since the nefarious Dane twins of White London fell, and four months since the stone was cast with Holland's dying body through the rift – back into Black London.
Now, restless after having given up his smuggling habit, Kell is visited by dreams of ominous magical events, waking only to think of Lila, who disappeared from the docks as she always meant to do. As Red London finalizes preparations for the Element Games – an extravagant international competition of magic meant to entertain and keep healthy the ties between neighboring countries – a certain pirate ship draws closer, carrying old friends back into port.
And while Red London is caught up in the pageantry and thrills of the Games, another London is coming back to life. After all, a shadow that was gone in the night will reappear in the morning. But the balance of magic is ever perilous, and for one city to flourish, another London must fall.

Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover

Title: Losing Hope
Author: Colleen Hoover
Published: July 8th, 2013 by Atria Books.

In the follow-up to Colleen Hoover’s #1 New York Times bestseller Hopeless, the charming and irresistible Dean Holder tells the passionate story that has melted thousands of hearts. In Hopeless, Sky left no secret unearthed, no feeling unshared, and no memory forgotten, but Holder’s past remained a mystery. Still haunted by the little girl he let walk away, Holder has spent his entire life searching for her in an attempt to finally rid himself of the crushing guilt he has felt for years. But he could not have anticipated that the moment they reconnect, even greater remorse would overwhelm him… Sometimes in life, if we wish to move forward, we must first dig deep into our past and make amends. In Losing Hope, bestselling author Colleen Hoover reveals what was going on inside Holder’s head during all those hopeless moments—and whether he can gain the peace he desperately needs.

My Musings

Another great book by Colleen Hoover. It had been on my TBR list for a long time and after reading Ugly Love and then The Lunar Chronicles I was in the mood for contemporary. It was really good to read this story again, but this time from Holder's point of view and it's always nice to 'see' the intentions behind the other characters' actions. The book starts with a slap to the face, one of those moments that make you think "this can't be happening", and you can't help but feel for the characters and continue reading, you are instantly hooked.

Oh, the joy!

I know, I know, I know. I feel ashamed to come back as if I have been posting regularly. I don't know how to start this post.

I feel like I should start by apologizing. I don't even know to whom. Mainly myself I think? Because I feel like I have been such a fail and I get annoyed at myself for being so lazy and unmotivated.

Okay, so now I apologize to anyone out there who maybe happened to click on my blog and read my posts. Sorry I'm such a fail.

I came back because I just had to share this joy. Oh, the Joy! See what I did there? So subtle, smh.

What is it exactly that's provoking joy in me, you may ask? The fact that I'm out the reading slump! And I have to thank The Winner's Kiss for that.

I loved the book and I thought that it was a nice conclusion to the series but when I finished I found that there was something missing. I really dislike when that happens. by the way. Like the end is great but I finish and I find myself thinking, is that it? I was hoping for more.

Still, I liked the way everything turned out for them. I enjoyed seeing Kestrel discovering herself along the way. I liked the fact that even though she suffered, she then found it in her to be noble and kind.

I am currently reading A Court of Mist and Fury and *gaaaaaaaaaawd* I am loving it so much. It's taking me ages because of work but I kinda don't want to finish it too quick.

Also, I need to share with you all the fact that I saw Coldplay live last month and I met them. It was honestly one of the highlights of my life. I kid you not. I've been thinking of making a post about it, if only because I want to document the whole thing for myself, it was such an adventure.

And the show itself was so incredible, guys. Chris was great, I fell in love with him, the lights, the bracelets they gave us, the fireworks, the music. Ok, I need to stop.

I'm also seeing The 1975 on September so I'm very excited about that! Listening to 'If I Believe You' is going to be such an spiritual experience for me, I know I'm going to cry.

And on the same month, we'll be having Lollapalooza for the first time ever here, and I'm trying to get tickets. We'll see how that goes.

Music: I have been listening to Beyoncé's new album Lemonade and I think I love Hold Up too much.
Movies: The last film I saw was Captain America: Civil War. #TeamIronMan all the way, soz. Wasn't Spiderman a cutie? I thought I'd dislike him but he ended up being all chatty in his first battle. (Just like me in this post, loll)
TV shows: I have been watching House of Cards. I'm just on Season 2 but !!!!!! I hadn't been so shocked because of a TV show in a while, so I appreciated the feeling. Can't wait to watch more episodes but my laptop's broke. Yay.

That's been some of what's been happening in my life. Hopefully I'll be posting again to talk about ACOMAF next time. Do let me know what you have been up to! <3

Oh! Remember you can follow me on Twitter @alesmusings :) You should know that I like to fangirl though. Lots.
