What About Diversity?

This post has been inspired by people and thoughts. First, I saw that Chiara, who is a blogger too, has written LGBTQ stories and has a LGBTQ shelf in her goodreads account, which made me think she must read a lot of books that have diversity in them, in order to have a shelf for them.

This happened by the time Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda came out, and all of this combined made realize that I haven't really read a lot of books that are Diverse. And the only one I could think of that I have is I'll Give You The Sun,  by Jandy Nelson and maybe The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

So the reason of this post is because I want to discover LGBTIQ books, and I want you to help me with this. Why, you ask? Well, I think it is important to read something other than heteronormativity, to discover other identities and ways of living that are out there, and because I would love to learn more on this topic. And I want to believe this can happen with literature too, rather than through academic publications only.

So all I am asking is to please contribute by commenting with LGBTIQ books that you know of or that you have read and enjoyed and/or loved, even. This way, if someone other than myself is interested in this too, well they can look up the books and hopefully add them to their TBR list.

I hope you guys help me with this! Cause I cant wait to see your recommendations.

See you in the comments!

Blue Lily, Lily Blue de Maggie Stiefvater

Título: Blue Lily Lily Blue
Autora: Maggie Stiefvater

There is danger in dreaming. But there is even more danger in waking up. Blue Sargent has found things. For the first time in her life, she has friends she can trust, a group to which she can belong. The Raven Boys have taken her in as one of their own. Their problems have become hers, and her problems have become theirs. The trick with found things though, is how easily they can be lost. Friends can betray. Mothers can disappear. Visions can mislead. Certainties can unravel.

My Musings

I think this is my favorite book of this saga so far. There is so much going on, just like in the other books but this time I felt like the pieces of a puzzle slowly fitting together and making the whole picture a whole.

The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater

(Reseña en Español)

Title: The Dream Thieves
Author: Maggie Stiefvater
Published: September 17th, 2013 by Scholastic Press.

Now that the ley lines around Cabeswater have been woken, nothing for Ronan, Gansey, Blue, and Adam will be the same. Ronan, for one, is falling more and more deeply into his dreams, and his dreams are intruding more and more into waking life. Meanwhile, some very sinister people are looking for some of the same pieces of the Cabeswater puzzle that Gansey is after...

My Musings

I must admit it took me a while to really get into it. Like maybe there was soo much going on. The Gray Man, Declan, Kavinsky, Ronan, Adam, Blue, Gansey, sometimes I wanted to scream. And for a good portion of the book you're just not hooked in it. You know how you can't stop reading a book? Well that wasn't the case here, at least for the first half of it.

My Opinión

Top Ten Characters You'd Like To Check In With

This is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.

Today I am sharing with you a top 10 of the characters I'd like -more like LOVE- to check in with. I'm so excited for this one so let's just get to it.

I must admit I kinda cheated here cause some of the characters I chose are actually couples but I just couldn't leave their significant other aside, now could I?
