Visiting The Book Fair #Filbo2015

Hellooooooooo. Today I wanted to create something different and thought the perfect opportunity to do so was the visit I did to the book fair in my city, aka Bogotá. The Book Fair is more known as #Filbo2015

Corferias is the place where the Fair is hosted.

I was standing under the arch waiting to get my tickets, since I earned them in a contest on Twitter organized by Editorial Océano. I got them and then I waited for my friend, Felipe so that we could go in together.

Once there, we got to the first 'tent' or block and I kept saying: 'I hope there are books in English, please please' and then this happened:

I found them! Or well, just The Raven Boys but !!!!!! Too bad I didn't have any money with me so I couldn't buy it. Forever crying because of that. We kept looking at books and chatting and I continued searching for books I recognized and then I found Shiver. I haven't read it but I want to so more heartbreak.

Some tents were quite generic so I feel like there wasn't any point in taking the photos of books sitting there, but some other were quite creative, like these ones.

Oh I found The Girl On The Train, a book I definitely will be reading soon, but it was rather expensive. Or that's what I keep telling myself. *cries*

Then, we stumbled upon a good deal, 'Who We Are', One Direction's book was like $7 and I started fangirling. so then next thing you know...

My best friend is going through his wallet and finding the money necessary to buy the book.

And here I am, explaining how excited I am about having the book in my hands, and fangirling because 'Harry', and thanking my friend for the gift. And here is my friend showing the priced posession, and the great deal. I still can't believe it, so cheap.

The theme of this fair was Macondo, you know the town of A Hundred Years Of Solitude, the most known work of Gabriel García Marquez, Colombian writer who passed away over a year ago. So we had to visit the tent dedicated to Macondo.

And this is how it looks like inside.

We continued, and then my friend proceeded to recite a stanza of Pablo Neruda's XV

We kept visiting the tents and we found one full of manga, comics, artists were drawing people on the spot, so that was fun to watch. And at one point we took photos with these slogans (is that the right word?) I chose one that says "Much better the book than the film" OBVIOUSLY. And my friend chose one that says 'I read' lol.

And finally something A M A Z I N G happened,  you won't guess. You have to watch the video, even though it's quality is poor and it's cut off because the battery died.

I FOUND THEM! My latest guilty pleasure: The Selection, The Elite and The One. I had to share my excitement because THEY WEREN'T IN SPANISH! Oh, if only I had money. So that's a bit of what we did in the #Filbo2015. I would have liked to see more YA in the fair. I feel like there is too much John Green, EVERYWHERE. And YA is so much more than Green's books.

I'd love to thank Editorial Oceano for giving me tickets to go. I hope you all enjoyed this, something different to the usual reviews and memes. Did you enjoy this? Would love to read your feedback.

  1. It looked like you had a great time! Such a shame you didn't have more money - if only you could've picked up The Raven Boys. AND THE SELECTION OH MY GOD. I don't think I've ever even seen The Selection in a bookstore in England. Damn.

  2. This looks like so much fun! I've always wanted to go to a book fair. That's awesome that you were able to find a good deal. It's a shame you couldn't get The Selection series. I've read the first book and really liked it.
And agreed. YA is so much more than John Green book. I talk to so many people who don't even know what Young Adult books are. :(

    1. This book fair is really big in my city and I know omggggggg, even if it wasn't a book per se, IT WAS ONE DIRECTION. Okay, I'm gonna calm down lol. I must admit The Selection series is one of my guilty pleasures now, eeeep. So addicting. Ah, those covers. Really a shame that I couldn't get them </3

Right? I feel like YA isn't really a known genre outside of US, or UK. Or maybe just now people in other countries are starting to discover it.

Thanks for stopping by, Oli! :)

  3. Aw, this looks like such fun! It's too bad you couldn't grab The Raven Boys, especially since that's my #1... ;D But you grabbed Maggie's other books, and those are really great too!

The fact that there were so many books... *drools* I wish we had book fairs here, but only elementary schools have them and obviously I couldn't go to one of those. Sigh. :///

    1. I still can't believe I found TRB, I was like OHMYGOD LOOK AT THIS BOOK *friend's name* I want to visit the store where I saw it (thistimewithmymom :P) and see if it's there. AND IT WAS IN ENGLISH, OH GOD. :(

Oh noooooo. This is such a major event here. This year's was the 26th version of it! And each time there's an invited country and that's the theme of the fair. So glad that I could show you guys -a tiny bit- of it.

Thanks for stopping by Sydney! I really appreciate it :)

  5. Thank you so much for stopping by! :) I'm sure if you guys had more fairs they would be paradise, we are lacking some serious variety in YA, cause this genre is more than John Green's books </3
